Asbestos Exposure – Hazards and Prevention – English

DSPS · OSHA

Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral that was widely used for decades in building materials, industrial products, and equipment due to its strength, durability, and heat resistance. Although its use has declined significantly, asbestos-containing materials can still be found in many older structures, products, and work environments.

When asbestos-containing materials are damaged, disturbed, or deteriorate over time, microscopic fibers can become airborne and create a potential exposure hazard. Repeated or significant exposure to these fibers has been linked to serious health conditions that may not develop until many years after the initial exposure.

This course provides an overview of asbestos hazards, potential sources of exposure, associated health risks, and the measures used to protect workers and the public from unnecessary exposure.

Course Duration: 22 Minutes

Purchasing and enrollment are completed on the dedicated USS.training platform.
